MATCH PREVIEW: Houston Dynamo FC travel to the Northeast for a high-powered interconference matchup versus the New England Revolution

HOUSTON (Aug. 7, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC wrap up a two-match road trip on Saturday, Aug. 8, traveling to the Northeast for a high-powered interconference clash versus the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. CT, and fans can stream the action live via MLS on Apple TV. 

The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 7, but was postponed and rescheduled due to field-related infrastructure issues.  

Notably, Houston has posted a 7-2-2 (WLD) record over their last 11 matches, earning the most points (23) of any Western Conference team during that span. Additionally, the team is unbeaten in their last five MLS matches. Houston currently sits fourth in the Western Conference standings with an 9-6-2 (WLD) record and 29 points. 

Saturday's fixture marks the first meeting between the Dynamo and Revolution since 2024, when Houston defeated New England 2-1 at Shell Energy Stadium behind two world-class goals from forward Ezequiel Ponce and Erik Sviatchenko. 

The Dynamo are coming off their second consecutive shutout victory after defeating Sporting Kansas City 2-0 on the road behind attacker Guilherme's 10th goal of the season and midfielder Agustín Bouzat’s first goal of the year. The result also marked Houston’ssixth clean sheet of the season. 

Guilherme's performance during the Kansas City match earned him MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 19, marking the Brazilian's sixth selection of the season (Matchday 1, 4, 5, 14 and 18) and his second consecutive selection after alsobeing named to the team in Matchday 18. Notably, with his goal, Guilherme became just the ninth player in MLS history to score or assist on at least 17 of his Club's first 25 goals in a season and. 

New England heads into Saturday's match sitting third in the Eastern Conference with 30 points and a 9-5-3 (WLD) record. They finished the month of July with a 1-0-1 (WLD) record and are most recently coming off a 2-2 draw at CF Montreal on Aug. 1, with goals from Carles Gil and Dor Turgeman. Gil leads New England's attack with seven goals and six assists. 

The Revolution have former Homegrown Dynamo midfielder Brooklyn Raines on their roster, after the two team completed a cash-for-player trade at the end of last year, with Houston receiving $1.6 million. In Houston, Raines’ trajectory illustrates another success story for the Club’s player pathway system. The midfielder originally signed a Homegrown Player contract with the Dynamo in February 2022 as a 16-year-old, before making his MLS debut at just 17 years old. Raines made 61 appearances in all competitions with the Dynamo, totaling one goal and two assists. 

Last week, Guilherme represented Houston in the 2026 MLS All-Star Game, entering the match in the first half and playing 28 minutes alongside some of the league's brightest stars, including Son Heung-Min and Thomas Müller. The veteran attacker was named to the event after quickly establishing himself as a top-performing MLS newcomer and key figure for the Dynamo this season, recording 10 goals and seven assists in 17 appearances while helping propel the Club into the thick of the Western Conference playoff race.
