The Colorado Rapids needed a win and help to clinch the Supporters’ Shield on Decision Day. The Houston Dynamo put a stop to that.

Andrew Wenger’s goal in the 20th minute gave Houston an early lead in Dick's Sporting Goods Park, but the Rapids came back to tie the game in the second half on Sunday. Without the victory, the Rapids fell in the Shield chase, as FC Dallas prevailed with a draw in Los Angeles and won the 2016 Supporters' Shield.

Rapids’ forward Shkelzen Gashi scored in the 67th minute with an assist by Dominique Badji to tie it up, but couldn't find a winner. Houston ran out of steam, leaving the game tied 1-1, to end the regular season.
