The National Soccer Hall of Fame announced earlier today that former Houston Dynamo FC defender DaMarcus Beasley was elected to the Class of 2023. Beasley was elected in his first year of eligibility following his retirement with the Dynamo in 2019.

The 2023 Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 6. Additional information about the Class of 2023 and the National Soccer Hall of Fame is available here.

Beasley retired after six seasons with the Dynamo in 2019 and led the team to its first-ever Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship in 2018. He joined the Dynamo after representing the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, his fourth for the USMNT and he was the first male American player to reach that mark.

Beasley joined the Fort Wayne FC ownership group following his retirement and also leads the sports operations for the club. The former Dynamo defender is currently in Qatar as an MLS ambassador for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Fort Wayne, Indiana native signed his first professional contract with Major League Soccer in 1999 at the age of 16, eventually landing with the Chicago Fire as a speedy left winger. He was a three-time MLS All-Star in Chicago and was named to the 2003 MLS Best XI before transferring to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in 2004.

Beasley enjoyed incredible success in Europe, starring in the UEFA Champions League and winning trophies during stints with PSV, Manchester City, Rangers FC, and Hannover 96. He then moved to Puebla in Liga MX in 2012 prior to returning to Major League Soccer.
