Houston Dynamo FC defender Maynor Figueroa and forward Ariel Lassiter reported for international duty earlier today.
Figueroa joined Honduras in Europe for a pair of games against Belarus on Wednesday, March 24 and Greece on Sunday, March 28. Lassiter also traveled to Europe and joined Costa Rica to prepare for a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, March 27. Costa Rica will remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a friendly against Mexico on Tuesday, March 30.
Both players were with the Dynamo for Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Austin Bold FC at BBVA Stadium.
Figueroa returns for his third season with the Dynamo after leading the team in blocks (20), clearances (73) and interceptions (41) in the abbreviated 2020 regular season. The Honduran international and the Dynamo agreed to a new contract on Feb. 20, 2021 which includes an option for 2022.
This is the first full regular season with the Dynamo for Lassiter, who joined the Club on loan from LD Alajuelense in Costa Rica on Aug. 17, 2020. The forward finished with three goals and one assist in 16 appearances for Houston last season. The Club exercised the purchase option on Lassiter from LD Alajuelense on Dec. 1, 2020.
