HOUSTON (May 16, 2026) – The undefeated Houston Dynamo 2 travel north to face Minnesota United FC 2 on Saturday, May 16, marking the first of three meetings between the two sides this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT at National Sports Center Stadium, and fans can follow the action live on MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
Dos will look to continue their impressive undefeated start to the season, while having the upper hand in the all-time series against Minnesota, with six wins, three draws and two losses.
Houston is coming off a 4-1 road victory over previously undefeated St. Louis CITY2 last weekend, with four different players finding the back of the net. The result helped Dos retain their position atop the Western Conference standings, where they sit with 26 points and an unbeaten record of 8-0-1 (WLD). The four-goal performance also earned the team MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 10 honors, marking the second time the team has received that recognition this season.
Notably, in the midst of a league-record 10-match road stretch, Dynamo 2 earned three MLS NEXT Pro monthly honors for April, including interim head coach Jeremy Hurdle earning Coach of the Month and goalkeeper Pedro Cruz earning Goalkeeper of the Month in consecutive months, while the entire team was named MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Month for the first time this season.
Through nine matches under Hurdle’s leadership, Houston leads the league in clean sheets (five), assists (18) and fewest goals conceded in open play (three) this season. The team also ranks second in the league with goals scored (24). Individually, Cruz is tied for first in the league in clean sheets (four), while forward AustinBrummett leads the team with four goals and striker Arthur Sousa leads the team with three assists.
Just this week, Dynamo 2 signed Dynamo Academy product and attacker Samir Mohammad to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, making him the 13th Dynamo Academy product in Club history to sign a professional contract with the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate. The 18-year-old has already featured for Dynamo 2 several times, including making his professional debut last year on Decision Day versus Tacoma Defiance, while totaling nine appearances (eight starts) in MLS NEXT Pro overall. Notably, he was one of seven Academy players called up by first team head coach Ben Olsen to join the Dynamo for preseason action earlier this year and helped the team win the inaugural Torneo de Tejas title.
Minnesota is coming off a 2-1 road defeat at Portland Timbers2, with Sam Vigilante scoring the team’s lone goal. MNUFC2 currently sits just inside the playoff line in eighth in the Western Conference with 14 points and a 4-5-1 (WLD) record. Marcus Caldeira leads the team’s attack with five goals.
Houston next travels to face Portland Timbers2 on Sunday, May 24, at Providence Park, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the match live via MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
