HOUSTON (Sept. 5, 2025) – Houston Dynamo FC return to Shell Energy Stadium to host the LA Galaxy on Saturday, Sept. 6, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, as Houston looks to continue climbing the Western Conference standings. Fans can secure their tickets HERE.

The Dynamo have six regular season matches remaining in their push for the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, including three home matches and three road matches.

Saturday’s match will also feature Military Appreciation Night, presented by Heriberto Ramos & Associates. Fans can look forward to a special military-themed Dynamo hat gate giveaway, a national anthem from military service members and a special military wear-in ceremony on the pitch at halftime.

The match was originally scheduled for Friday, July 25, but it was postponed and rescheduled due to pitch conditions and resulting player safety concerns created by inclement weather in the Houston area. Fans with tickets to the original match date can reuse those tickets via SeatGeek.

Forward Ezequiel Ponce leads the team’s attack with 10 goals across all competitions, including eight in regular season play, while midfielder Jack McGlynn sits second with six goals in all competitions. McGlynn also leads the team in distribution with seven assists, followed by defender Griffin Dorsey with six assists.

The Dynamo are coming off a thrilling 3-2 road victory over St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday night that included Ponce’s eighth goal of the season and midfielder Duane Holmes’ first goal for Houston. Notably, the result marked a major career milestone for head coach Ben Olsen, who earned his 150th career MLS regular season win. The veteran currently ranks third among active MLS coaches in career wins and seventh all-time. The match also saw Dorsey make his 100th MLS regular season start.

Both Ponce and midfielder Ondřej Lingr, who finished the match with three key passes and his third assist of the season, were named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for their performances.

Just this week, Houston acquired MLS veteran **Sergio** **Santos** and signed Jamaican defender **Damion** **Lowe**. Santos brings extensive MLS experience to Houston, totaling 167 regular season and postseason appearances over eight years in the league with FC Cincinnati and the Philadelphia Union. The 30-year-old has netted 27 goals and 14 assists in MLS play, while helping lead both Philadelphia (2020) and Cincinnati (2023) to Supporters’ Shields. Lowe is a regular for the Jamaican national team, recording 74 caps, three goals and two assists across various tournaments. The 32-year-old has totaled 59 MLS regular season and postseason appearances over three seasons in the league with the Philadelphia Union and Inter Miami CF, recording three goals and one assist.

Two players from Houston’s first team roster received international call-ups for the September FIFA window. McGlynn rejoins the senior U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) for training camp that will include friendlies versus World Cup-bound opponents Korea Republic (New Jersey, NJ on Sept. 6 at 4:00 p.m. CT) and Japan (Columbus, OH on Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. CT), as the team continues its preparations for FIFA World Cup 26. McGlynn represented the USMNT during this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup, appearing in every match of the tournament to help the team reach the Final versus Mexico at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Meanwhile, midfielder Brooklyn Raines joins the U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team for training camp in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain. It will be the final camp before the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup from Sept. 27-Oct. 19 in Chile.

The Galaxy are coming off a 2-1 home victory versus Orlando City SC in the third-place match of Leagues Cup 2025, after falling 2-0 to Seattle Sounders FC in the Semifinals. Marco Reus opened the scoring in the ninth minute, and Joseph Paintsil scored the match winner in the 67th minute. In regular season action, Los Angeles most recently earned a 3-0 home victory over the Colorado Rapids. Harbor Miller, Elijah Wynder and Gabriel Pec were the three goal scorers for the Galaxy that night. The team currently sits at the bottom in the Western Conference with 19 points and a 4-16-7 (WLD) record.

Houston holds the upper hand in the all-time regular season series against the Galaxy, with a 15-14-12 (WLD) record. Earlier this season, Houston earned a 1-1 draw in Southern California against Los Angeles. Houston’s goal came in the 14th minute when Sebastian Kowalczyk drove into the box and linked up with forward Amine Bassi, who set up Ponce for the score. Notably, the occasion marked Olsen’s 100th match in charge of the Dynamo in all competitions, making him just the third coach in Club history to reach that milestone (Dominic Kinnear and Wilmer Cabrera).

Houston next travels to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, Sept. 13, with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. Fans can follow the action live via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
