HOUSTON (Aug. 21, 2026) – Western Conference leading Houston Dynamo FC will look to remain atop the table this weekend when they remain on the road to face St. Louis CTY SC at Energizer Park on Saturday, Aug. 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, and fans watch the match live via MLS on Apple TV.
Notably, Houston is looking to earn a league-record sixth consecutive shoutout victory and have not conceded a goal in 462 minutes, the second-longest streak for the Dynamo over the past decade. The Dynamo are currently the hottest team in the West over the past 14 matches, compiling a 10-2-2 record for 32 points over that stretch, while being undefeated over the last eight matches.
Houston enters this weekend's fixture in first place in the Western Conference after defeating the previous leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC by a 1-0 score on the road on Wednesday night. The result marked their fifth consecutive shutout victory, making them just the third team in MLS history to accomplish that feat. Defender Franco Negri scored the game-winner with an outstanding strike from long range, and his performance earned him MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 21, alongside head coach BenOlsen.
Saturday's match will mark the second meeting between Houston and St. Louis this year, with their last matchup coming in May during the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals. In MLS action, this match marks the seventh meeting in the all-time regular season series, with Houston looking to gain the upper hand in the series against St. Louis, which is currently tied at two wins apieces. The Dynamo won last season’s two-match series, earning a 1-0 victory at Shell Energy Stadium in June before defeating them again at St. Louis in August. Notably, the result at Energizer Park marked a major career milestone for Olsen, earning him his 150th career MLS regular season win. The veteran currently ranks third among active MLS coaches in career wins and seventh all-time.
St. Louis is coming off a 1-1 draw at Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night and is currently on a 10-match unbeaten streak, the longest in club history and tied for the longest in MLS this season. CITY sit sixth in the Western Conference with 30 points and an 8-6-6 (WLD) overall record. Marcel Hartel leads the team's attack with six goals, while Simon Becher leads the team with five assists.
In addition to the stellar result on Wednesday at Vancouver, the match featured several milestones for Dynamo players, including Negri netting his first Dynamo goal, goalkeeper Jonathan Bond making his 50th Dynamo appearance, midfielder Jack McGlynn his 150th MLS appearance, forward Duncan McGuire 100th MLS appearance and defender Marcelo Saracchi making his Dynamo debut.
Attacker Guilherme has now scored or assisted on 65.5% of Houston's goals this season, the highest rate in MLS so far, and he is pursuing the all-time single-season record set by Sebastien Le Toux in 2010 for the Philadelphia Union at 71.4%. Additionally, Guilherme has scored seven goals in the last 11 MLS matches, including a goal in four consecutive matches, just one short of the Club’s all-time record, as forward Mauro Manotas managed five in 2019.
Last week, Houston announced the acquisition of Saracchi, a left back who has recorded 12 goals and 25 assists in 272 career appearances across several top-flight leagues, including LaLiga, the Bundesliga, the Turkish Süper Lig, the Scottish Premiership and the Argentine Primera División, as well as prestigious competitions like the Copa Libertadores, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. He has also proven himself as a winner, lifting six trophies across his career.
Houston returns to Shell Energy Stadium to host the San Jose Earthquakes for Kick Cancer Night, presented by UT MD Anderson, on Saturday, Aug. 29, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT. Fans can secure tickets to the match via Tixr.
