HOUSTON (Aug. 18, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC kick off a two-match road trip on Wednesday, Aug. 19, traveling to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC in a top-two Western Conference clash at BC Place. The winner of this match will claim top spot heading into the weekend, and fans can tune in a 9:30 p.m. to watch the action live via MLS on Apple TV

Notably, Houston has earned four consecutive shutout victories, a first in team history, and will look to become just the third team in MLS history to complete a five-match winning streak without conceding a goal in a single season.

The Dynamo currently sit second in the West on 35 points and a 11-6-2 (WLD) record, while the last time Houston sat in the top-two of a conference on August 19 was 2017 when Houston led the Western Conference. Houston is currently the hottest team in the conference over the past 13 matches, compiling a 9-2-2 record for 29 points over that stretch, while being undefeated over the last seven matches. On the defensive front, Houston has not conceded a goal in 372 minutes, the second-longest streak for the Dynamo over the past decade.

This fixture marks the 29th all-time regular season matchup between Houston and Vancouver. Houston holds a 3-2-2 (WLD) record since Olsen took over the Dynamo ahead of the 2023 season, with their most recent victory versus the Canadian side coming in May earlier this season, when attacker Guilherme scored a thrilling game-winning goal in the 96th minute to help the Dynamo earn a 1-0 victory at Shell Energy Stadium.

The Dynamo are coming off a 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy in front of a sold-out crowd at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday and have now earned four consecutive shutout victories for the first time in Club history. Guilherme scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 21st minute for his 19th goal contribution (12th goal) of the season. Notably, his performance earned him MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 20, his seventh selection of the season.

The Brazilian has now scored or assisted on 67.9% of Houston's goals this season, the highest rate in MLS so far, and he is pursuing the all-time single-season record set by Sebastien Le Toux in 2010 for the Philadelphia Union at 71.4%. Additionally, Guilherme has scored seven goals in the last 10 MLS matches, including a goal in four consecutive matches, just one short of the Club’s all-time record, as forward Mauro Manotas managed five in 2019.

Vancouver and German international legend Thomas Müller will provide a strong test for Houston, sitting atop the Western Conference, just two points ahead of the Dynamo with a 11-3-4 (WLD) record and 37 points. The Whitecaps are coming off a 2-0 victory at Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, with Rayan Elloumi and Müller each scoring a goal. Vancouver has posted a 1-3-3 (WLD) over the last seven matches in all competitions. In league play, Brian White leads the team's attack with 10 goals, while Édier Ocampo has posted a team-leading six assists this season.

Last week, Houston announced the acquisition of defender Marcelo Saracchi, a left back who has recorded 12 goals and 25 assists in 272 career appearances across several top-flight leagues, including LaLiga, the Bundesliga, the Turkish Süper Lig, the Scottish Premiership and the Argentine Primera División, as well as prestigious competitions like the Copa Libertadores, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. He has also proven himself as a winner, lifting six trophies across his career.

Houston next travel to face St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Energizer Park, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Fan can follow the match via MLS on Apple TV.
