HOUSTON (Aug. 17, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC attacker Guilherme was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 20, the league announced today. The honor marks the Brazilian’s seventh of the season (Matchday 1, 4, 5, 14, 18 and 19) and his third consecutive selection.

The Dynamo are coming off a 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy in front of a sold-out crowd at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday night and have now earned four consecutive shutout victories for the first time in Club history. Houston is also the hottest team in the Western Conference over the past 13 matches, compiling a 9-2-2 record for 29 points over that stretch, while being undefeated over the last seven matches. On the defensive front, the Dynamo have not conceded a goal in 372 minutes, the second-longest streak for the Dynamo over the past decade.

Houston took the lead in the 21st minute when Guilherme converted from the penalty spot for his 19th goal contribution (12th goal) of the season. The penalty was earned after forward Lawrence Ennali was fouled in the box.

The Brazilian has now scored or assisted on 67.9% of Houston's goals this season, the highest in MLS so far, and he is pursuing the all-time single-season record set by Sebastien Le Toux in 2010 for the Philadelphia Union at 71.4%. Additionally, Guilherme has scored seven goals in the last 10 MLS matches, including a goal in four consecutive MLS matches, following one versus Sporting Kansas City on Aug. 1, one at the New England Revolution on Aug. 8 and one against Austin FC on July 25. The club's all-time record for matches with a goal scored is five, accomplished by forward Mauro Manotas in 2019.

Houston next opens a two-match road trip on Wednesday, Aug. 19, first traveling to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place, with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT. Fans can follow the action live via MLS on Apple TV.
