MLS and Liga MX on Monday announced the broadcast details for the new Leagues Cup, the annual competition between the two top leagues in North America that kicks off later this month.


Univision and ESPN in the United States and TSN and TVA Sports in Canada will televise the tournament, which begins on July 23, while Televisa will air the event in Mexico on TUDN, Canal 5 and Nu9ve. The broadcast partnership will ensure the inaugural edition of the competition reaches millions of fans across the continent.


“The extensive coverage of Leagues Cup across Univision, ESPN, Televisa, TSN, and TVA will allow fans to catch all of the action in multiple languages and across linear and digital platforms,” said Gary Stevenson, Deputy Commissioner and President of MLS business ventures, in a league release.

Leagues Cup matches will air on UniMás and Univision’s rebranded TUDN network (currently known as Univision Deportes Network, the Spanish-language sports network will become TUDN on July 20).


On ESPN networks, ESPN+, the leading direct-to-consumer sports video service, will stream three quarterfinal matches and ESPN will televise one match in the quarterfinal round. ESPN2 will televise the two semifinal matches on Aug. 20 and the final on Sept. 18. All matches on television will also stream live on the ESPN App.
