HOUSTON (Aug. 16, 2025) – Houston Dynamo FC wrap up a two-match road stretch on Sunday night, traveling to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. CT at BC Place, and fans can follow the action live via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Houston has nine regular season matches remaining in their push for playoffs, including four home matches and five road matches.

Saturday’s fixture marks the 27th MLS regular season matchup between Houston and Vancouver in the all-time series. In the most recent meeting at BC Place last season, the Dynamo earned a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Whitecaps. The back-and-forth affair saw a brace from defender Griffin Dorsey, who scored the match-winner in the 87th minute, while former Dynamo players Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla and Brad Smith also found the back of the net. Notably, forward Ezequiel Ponce made his Dynamo debut that night.

Head coach Ben Olsen remains on the verge of a major career milestone, sitting one victory away from 150 career MLS regular season wins. The veteran has been a part of the league since 1998 as a player and a coach since 2010, and Olsen currently ranks third among active MLS coaches in career wins and seventh all-time.

Forward Ezequiel Ponce leads Houston’s attack with nine goals across all competitions, including seven in regular season play, while midfielder Jack McGlynn sits second with six goals in all competitions. Defender Griffin Dorsey leads the team in distribution with six assists, followed by McGlynn with five.

The Dynamo are coming off a 2-2 road draw against Austin FC on August 9, where they battled back behind two second half goals from McGlynn. The USMNT midfielder’s first-career MLS brace earned him a spot on the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 28. McGlynn converted a penalty attempt in the 80th minute before completing the comeback with a goal from outside the box assisted by forward Lawrence Ennali in the 89th minute. Notably, defender Antônio Carlos made his Dynamo debut last weekend, entering as a substitute at the start of the second half after signing with the Club from Brazilian club Fluminense FC on July 30.

The Whitecaps are coming off a 2-2 draw against Canadian Premier League (CPL) side Forge FC in the first leg of the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship Semifinals. In their most recent MLS match, Vancouver fell 2-1 on the road to the San Jose Earthquakes. After going down to 10 men within the first 27 minutes, Brian White netted the lone goal for the Whitecaps in the 88th minute, marking his 100th career goal. Vancouver currently sits second in the Western Conference with a 13-6-6 (WLD) record and 45 points. White leads the team’s attack with 12 goals, while Pedro Vite and J.C. Ngando are tied with six MLS assists apiece.

Houston and Vancouver most recently met last month, where the Dynamo fell 3-0 at Shell Energy Stadium. Notably, the match saw forward Lawrence Ennali make his first home start for the Dynamo, marking a milestone in his return from a knee injury last season.

Houston returns to Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 23, to host the San Jose Earthquakes on Kids Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, and Dynamo fans can secure their tickets HERE.
