HOUSTON (Sept. 25, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC close a two-match homestand at Shell Energy Stadiumon Saturday, Sept. 26, hosting historic rivals Sporting Kansas City on what will be Noche de México, presented by Verizon. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, and fans can secure their tickets for the thrilling night via Tixr HERE.
Noche de México is a continuation of the Club’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, honoring the traditions and culture of Mexico with special entertainment, in-stadium programming and exclusive merchandise. Currently available in the Team Shop is a special-edition Houston Dynamo FC and the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) co-designed t-shirt, inspired by midfielder Héctor Herrera’s career journey from Mexico to Houston. Fans who arrive early will receive a limited-edition luchador mask gate giveaway, courtesy of Verizon while supplies last, while mascot Diesel the Fox will face off against a group of luchadores in a halftime wrestling match. Additionally, in honor of last week’s Mexican Independence Day (Wednesday, Sept. 16) and Herrera’s No. 16, fans can purchase $16 tickets to Saturday’s match via Tixr.
This weekend’s fixture marks the second matchup between the two sides this season and the 48th all-time regular season meeting. Most recently, the Dynamo earned a 2-0 shutout road victory at Sporting Kansas City behind goals from attacker Guilherme and midfielder AgustÃn Bouzat. Goalkeeper Jonathan Bondcontributed four saves to the match, helping Houston secure their sixth clean sheet of the season at the time.
Houston remains second in the Western Conference standings with a 13-8-5 (W-L-D) record on 44 points, the second-highest total through 26 matches in team history. Notably, the Dynamo have avoided defeat in 10 of 12 matches since returning from the World Cup break, including an undefeated record at home. The team’s overall home record this season stands at a strong 8-2-3 (W-L-D).Â
Notably, Dynamo captain Artur could make his 150th appearance for the Dynamo in all competitions on Friday.
On the individual front, Guilherme has contributed to 22 of Houston’s 34 league goals this season (63.6%) while his 22 goal contributions (14 goals and eight assists) set a new single-season record for the Dynamo, surpassing Herrera (2021) and former Dynamo player Mauro Manotas’ (2019) 21 goal contributions. He also recently managed a four-match scoring streak, just one short of the Club’s all-time record, as Manotas managed five in 2019.
Additionally, Bond ranks among the top five in the league in clean sheets this season with ten. The veteran shot stopper recently helped Houston tie a league-record with a five-match shutout victory streak and held opponents scoreless for an impressive 485 minutes, the second-longest run over the last decade for the Dynamo.
The Dynamo are coming off a 2-2 home draw versus FC Cincinnati on Saturday night that featured goals from Guilherme and attacker Mateusz Bogusz, marking the fifth time both players have scored in the same MLS match this season.
Kansas City heads into Saturday’s match sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference table with just 18 points and a 5-17-3 (W-L-D) record. The team has won one match and lost two matches to start September, most recently falling 4-3 to the Philadelphia Union on the road last weekend. Dejan Joveljic leads the team's attack with eight goals, while Calvin Harris has recorded a team-leading six assists.
At the recent close of the league’s Secondary Transfer Window, the Dynamo announced the signing of English Premier League forward Lyle Foster on loan from Burnley FC. The South African international joins the Dynamo after spending the past four seasons with Burnley, making 89 league appearances and scoring 11 goals across the Premier League and EFL Championship, while earning 33 senior caps at the international level and scoring 11 goals. The latest transfer window saw Houston acquire two other impact players, including veteran defender **Marcelo** **Saracchi** on full transfer from the Argentinian top-flight's CA Boca Juniors on Aug. 11 and forward **Duncan** **McGuire** in a trade with Orlando City SC on July 10.
