HOUSTON (Oct. 27, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC open a two-match road trip with midweek action, traveling northwest to face Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Lumen Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT, and fans can tune in to the action on Apple TV.

The Dynamo recently earned their place in the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs for the third time in four seasons. With three regular season matches remaining, Houston is even with the San Jose Earthquakes with 48 points but sits fifth in the Western Conference standings on tiebreakers, just outside the top four and home-field advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. Notably, the Dynamo have remained above the playoff line since May and have avoided defeat in 14 of 17 matches since returning from the World Cup Break. Houston's 2026 playoff run is powered by Shell Energy, and fans can sign up to be the first to hear when playoff tickets go on sale by texting "PLAYOFFS" to 275-748.

Houston is coming off a scoreless home draw versus Minnesota United FC on Saturday night at Shell EnergyStadium. The result marked Houston’s 12th clean sheet as a team this season and goalkeeper JonathanBond’s 11th, while 12 regular season shutouts are just one off the all-time Club record of 13, set in 2007 and 2023. Bond's performance earned him MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 32, as he recorded five saves and stopped every Minnesota shot on target.

Wednesday's fixture in Seattle marks the second meeting between the Dynamo and Sounders this season. Houston hosted the Sounders in April, where they created far more dangerous chances despite falling 1-0. The Dynamo recorded 1.4 xG, 13 shots and nine corners, compared to Seattle’s 0.4 xG, five shots and three corners.

One technical staff note for this match is that head coach Ben Olsen will serve a suspension after receiving a red card during Saturday’s home match versus Minnesota.

From an individual perspective, attacker Guilherme has contributed to 26 of Houston's 41 league goals this season (63.4%), one of the highest rates in MLS so far, and recently became just the second player in Dynamo history to record 10 goals and 10 assists in the same season (Alberth Elis, 11 goals and 10 assists in 2018). He also became the second Brazilian player in MLS history to record at least 25 goal contributions in their debut season (Gabriel Pec, 2024). Additionally, he has recorded at least a goal and one assist in seven MLS matches this season.

Following an impressive display versus Minnesota, Bond remains among the league's top five in clean sheets this season. He is just one shutout shy from tying former Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall's Club record of 12 clean sheets in a single season. Bond also recently helped Houston tie a league-record with a five-match shutout victory streak and held opponents scoreless for an impressive 485 minutes, the second-longest run over the last decade for the Dynamo.

The Sounders enter Wednesday's match sitting seventh in the Western Conference as they look to secure a spot in this year's postseason. Seattle holds a 11-10-10 (W-L-D) record with 43 points and has pisted a 2-1-2 (W-L-D) record in their five matches this month. They most recently played San Diego FC to a 2-2 road draw, with Dejan Joveljic and Sebastian Gomez each scoring a goal for Seattle. Albert Rusnák leads the team's attack with four goals and 14 assists.

Last week, the Dynamo also announced a contract extension for Olsen through the 2027-28 season. Under his leadership, the Club has lifted 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, qualified for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup for the first time since 2019, reached the 2023 Western Conference Final, set a Club single-season points record in 2024, while securing a second consecutive MLS Cup Playoffs berth. The American is one of three active MLS head coaches to lead a team to the playoffs eight or more times and ranks second in Club history for the most playoff appearances. Olsen sits seventh all-time amongst MLS head coaches with 164 regular season wins, while his 51 regular season wins with the Dynamo is the second-most in Club history. Among full-time head coaches for the Dynamo, Olsen owns the second-highest winning percentage across all competitions (39.5%). Additionally, Olsen has been a key contributor in Houston’s rise as one of the most productive player development clubs in MLS, advancing the careers of players like midfielder Matthew Arana, defender Felipe Andrade, Micael dos Santos, Jack McGlynn, Brooklyn Raines and defender Agustin Resch.

The Dynamo then remain out west for a Sunday night matchup at the Portland Timbers on Nov. 1, with kickoff scheduled for 8:45 p.m. CT. Fans can follow both matches live via MLS on Apple TV.
