One lineup note for this weekend is that defender Griffin Dorsey will miss Saturday’s match for yellow card accumulation.

Forward Ezequiel Ponce leads the team’s attack with six goals across all competitions, including four in regular season play. Dorsey leads the team in distribution with six assists, followed by midfielder JackMcGlynn with five.

The Dynamo look to bounce back this weekend following a 3-1 defeat on the road to Minnesota United FC on Wednesday night. Defender Felipe Andrade was Houston’s lone goal scorer, pulling one back in second half stoppage time for his fourth goal of the year. Despite the result, the match saw goalkeeper Jonathan Bond make his 100th MLS regular season appearance, while defender Erik Sviatchenko made his return from injury, playing 62 minutes in his first match since May 3.

McGlynn remains on international duty with the U.S. Men’s National Team, who won their group and qualified for the Concacaf Gold Cup Quarterfinals after victories over Trinidad and Tobago (5-0), Saudi Arabia (1-0) and Haiti (2-1). McGlynn featured in all three matches, while recording an assist versus Trinidad and Tobago. The U.S. will face Costa Rica in the Quarterfinal on Sunday, June 29, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota.

St. Louis currently sits 12th in the Western Conference with 15 points and a 3-10-6 (WLD) record. CITY has lost three of their last five matches, with the other two results being a win and a draw. That stretch includes their most recent 4-2 home defeat to Orlando City SC at Energizer Park. Simon Becher scored St. Louis’ first goal of the match, while João Klauss netted the second. Klauss leads the team’s attack with six goals in 18 regular season matches.

Saturday will mark the fifth league meeting between Houston and St. Louis, as 2023 marked CITY’s inaugural season, which saw them finish first in the Western Conference. The last time St. Louis visited Houston was in May 2024, when the two sides played to a scoreless draw. The Dynamo will be looking for their first MLS victory versus St. Louis.

The Dynamo took down CITY in the first round of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup in February last season, advancing on a 2-2 aggregate score, with Houston’s away goal serving as the tiebreaker. St. Louis won the first leg 2-1 at home, before a 1-0 Dynamo home victory in the second leg saw Houston through to the next round. The Dynamo’s goal scorers in the series were midfielder Sebastian Kowalczyk and Sviatchenko, who each scored their debut goals for Houston.

The Dynamo next travel to face MLS newcomers San Diego FC on Saturday, July 5, at Snapdragon Stadium. Fans can stream the match via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
