Six Houston Dynamo FC athletes represented the city during recent 2026 MLS All-Star Week

HOUSTON (Aug. 4, 2026) - Six Houston Dynamo FC athletes represented the city at last week’s 2026 MLS All-Star Week in Charlotte, N.C., including first team players Guilherme and Matthew Arana, Houston Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, Dynamo Academy defender Brogan Fitzsimons, and Houston Dynamo Unified Team athletes Matthew Barrette and Julian Owen. 

Notably, the Club was represented across every major event of All-Star Week, with athletes participating in the MLS All-Star Game, MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, MLS NEXT All-Star Game and Special Olympics Unified Sports MLS All-Star Game.    

Dynamo attacker Guilherme played in this year's MLS All-Star Game on July 29, entering the match in the first half and playing 28 minutes alongside some of the league's brightest stars, including Son Heung-Min and Thomas Müller. The veteran attacker was named to the event after quickly establishing himself as a top-performing MLS newcomer and key figure for the Dynamo this season, recording 10 goals and seven assists in 17 appearances while helping propel the Club into the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. With his latest goal, Guilherme became just the ninth player in MLS history to score or assist on at least 17 of his Club's first 25 goals in a season. 

Arana and Fitzsimons participated in the MLS NEXT All-Star Game on July 27, with both players earning nods in the starting lineup and playing the entire first half. In addition to the match, both players took part in gear hauls, All-Star photoshoots and other events throughout the week. 

Cruz competed in this year’s Goalie Wars competition at the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on July 28. The 2025 champion finished runner-up after advancing to the final by defeating Will Mackay from Huntsville City FC in the MLS NEXT Pro play-in round and upsetting LIGA MX All-Star Carlos Moreno from C.F. Pachuca in overtime in the semifinal. 

Additionally, Houston had strong representation in the Special Olympics Unified Sports MLS All-Star Game on July 29, with Barrette and Owen helping the West rally from a 2-0 deficit against the East before ultimately falling 3-2.  

The Dynamo wrap a two-match road trip at Eastern Conference opponent the New England Revolution on Saturday, Aug. 8, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT. Fans can follow the action live via MLS on Apple TV.  

Dynamo 2 also continue their MLS NEXT Pro season on Saturday, Aug. 8, hosting Real Monarchs at SaberCats Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT, and fans can secure their free tickets for the home match HERE.
